We will soon be running diploma courses for new instructors.The level 1 basic self defence instructor course is open to anyone with a relevent background,you do not need to hold a black belt but you must be physically up to the challenge.This is one of the leading organisations in the UK with a vast amount of knowledge and experiance.

Is there a grading system?
No.The belt system was designed for the Japanese martial arts.You either can do it or you can't.There is a saying "sometimes a teacher,always a student".
What is Kapap?
Kapap is a system that pre-dates Krav Maga.It is the system that Krav Maga comes from.It was designed in Israel and used by the military.It is a system used all over the world and is constantly evolving.
What age can i start?
Training is open to people 16 years and above.There is no maximum age.
Do i need to be fit?
No.Allthough the system can be used by anyone you will become fitter and stronger through regular practise.
Do i have to sign a contract?
No.We are a pay as you train club which means there are no signing up fees,no direct debits,no contracts tying you in.You only pay for the sessions you attend.The first session is free with no obligation.
Is it a sport?
No.Kapap was designed to save lives in one of the most turbulant places in the world and as such focuses on tried and tested self defence.
How do i know im getting authentic training?
The instructor is registered in Israel under the International Kapap Federation and the University of Tel Aviv whose head instructors are some of the best in the world.We undergo regular instructor training and testing to make sure you are getting the highest level of training possible.(see instructor bio for more info).We are the only authorized Kapap training centre in Bristol and surrounding areas.
What do i need to bring?
All you will need is to wear some loose fitting comfortable clothing such as t-shirt and jogging bottoms.Bring a towel,a drink and a sense of humour.The sessions are intensive but we try to make it fun.
Do i have to wear a uniform?
No.We have club t-shirts available but it is your choice to wear them.Wear what you are comfortable in.

We have a simple philosophy about self-defence,does it work?The systems that we teach are constantly tested and updated with the most current skills available.This is a no nonsense down to earth training programme that has stripped away the non essentials.It is based on experience not theory,and teaches proven solutions that have and are still used by the military and law enforcement.Our training methods teach self protection principles that work regardless of the threat or technique,they are simple to learn and easy to remember.We use realistic training scenarios that are based on actual case studies so you know you are going to receive practical skills that will work in the real world.The systems that we teach are the latest know how from the specialist fields of security,anti terrorism,police tactics,modern warfare and most of all realistic/urban street fighting.

Welcome to Kapapbristol.We offer regular classes in the Bristol area that cover all aspects of self defence.The system is based on the training received by the Israeli military and offers a no nonsense approach to modern day self protection.It is based on easy to learn principles and focuses on being effective not flashy.We are an authorized Kapap training centre that run from full time martial arts studios that offer everything needed to learn safely.
We also offer self defence courses through The Self Defence Federation.(see self defence page for information),Freestyle Kickboxing,MMA and Kombat Kids licensed through the All Styles Martial Arts Association.

The system covers all aspects of fighting so you will learn striking,kicking,locks,chokes,throws,pressure points,weapons defence such as knives ,guns,bats and chains,defence against multiple attackers,muggings,surprise attacks and much more.You will learn how to deal with your adrenaline and focus your aggression through drilling,role playing,sparring and pressure testing.Not only will you learn about the physical responses you will also learn:
The law on self defence.
The colour code principle.
The 3 A's,Awareness,Avoidance and Escape.
The fence and the guard.
Power talking.
The pre-emptive strike.
Adrenaline and fear effects.
And many other ways to stop a confrontation escalating.
 
Classes are run in a modern safe full time martial arts gym that has fully matted areas,boxing ring,bags and all the equipment needed to learn safely.
